A fitting problem solved

Thanks Jill. Fully assembled now - well, minus collars as I would need to cut longer ones but Janet said she didn't want them. I suspect that they're important in providing strength at the join twixt heel and sides but have left them off for now. Had to fit longer laces ( colour not ideal but we can find some better one soon!)

May need to modify the aprons as, though she needs the width at the top, there's spare further down. I may use what's on and slit it down the centre line, overlap the sides and tack them to make a pattern for cutting some new aprons. Might have fun skiving them - not my forte with a scalpel!

Janet says she happy with them so ..... I'll let her wear them more first. The great thing is that she can put them on easily and finds them comfy. Thank you for being so accommodating and helpful! JG Suffolk Jan 2012

New look for old favourites

A few weeks ago, I ordered (and got very promptly) some red thread. It was only whe I finally got round to putting new soles on my shoes that I realised my red shoes had originally been sewn with brown thread to match the soles!
I decided that I'd try it with red thread and see what it looked like - I had a feeling that you'd never advocated using red thread on brown soles (though I might be wrong).
Anyway, I've done them and thought you might like to see what they look like, so I've attached pictures. When I was doing the first few stitches, I wasn't sure about it - but I'm quite impressed with the final result!

Just sending you a quick e.mail to tell you how much I love my satchel, was very excited when it arrived and got down to it straight away, (took me 7 hours to hand sew with a break for dinner) my fingers were very sore the next day! Been out with it on a couple of occasions and it has been admired, (a) for quality of leather and (b) for the style, thought you would like to.
